Wolfville wedding photography
Sabrina and I first met during a boudoir shoot, in fact she was one of my last photoshoots before the pandemic. During the shoot, she asked if she could use an xbox controller in some of the images as a surprise for Daniel, explaining that the pair were huge fans of video games, and between the two of them they had a growing collection of video game consoles (the 2021 total was 27). Of course I said yes!! The two of us bonded over our shared love for games, including The Legend Of Zelda. About half a year later, when Sabrina first asked me to photograph their wedding, I was over the moon excited (in fact I was secretly hoping she would the day they announced their engagement and I saw her Legend Of Zelda inspired ring, so you can bet I did a little happy dance when I saw that email)!
September 25th, 2021 was a beautiful day. Clouds cleared just as Sabrina and her bridesmaids were just about finished getting ready, filling the entire day with a warm sun on a brisk fall afternoon. Sabrina and Daniel made sure to make the entire day a family affair and paid tribute to both their families throughout the entire day. Daniel's ring belong to his late grandfather, and there was a special table reserved in the reception for those who were predeceased, which each seat including a verse as well as a personalized item to remember those dear to the couple. Both sets of parents had their own dance before the bride and groom took to the floor and Sabrina gifted her father-daughter dance to Daniel's sister, Holly and their father, since Holly didn't have the chance to have the special dance on her own wedding day. Daniel's mom, Allison baked cookies for the guests in lieu of a cake and Sabrina's dress was handmaid by her mother, Melanie. Sabrina's younger sister, Dharma was one of her bridesmaids and her older sister, Samantha was the MC for the reception. I think the most precious moment went to Sabrina's grandmother Sheila and her great aunt Sally who played the roll as the flower girls during the ceremony.
Of course, being the video game lovers Sabrina and Daniel are, they brought a lot of inspiration from the games they both cherish. The bridesmaids bouquets were made from old console controllers; two from an X-Box, two from a GameCube and two from a Playstation. Each bouquet was coloured to match the respective bridesmaid dress who wore the colours of the 3 Goddesses from Zelda, while Sabrina's bouquet were made in likeness of the Fire Flower from the Mario franchise. Sabrina's dress took inspiration from Princess Zelda's dress in Twilight Princess and her veil held the helpful fairy Navi from the franchise while Daniel wore a forrest green suit, a tribute to the hero Link. Sally and Sheila were both dressed as Princess Peach and Princess Daisy, respectfully, and their bouquets were made from the classic green Mario pipe we all know and love. The rings were even carried in Pokeballs. One of the bridesmaids, Chantal, handmaid each tables centrepiece at the reception and in lieu of table numbers, they were marked by a specific game represented by the centrepieces.
Sabrina and Daniel, you both made your day so special, unique and fun and I'm so glad and thankful I got to be just a small part of it. I hope you cherish these memories for all your days to come. Congratulations!!
