Without fail, every inquiry from a couple to have their wedding day captured gives me the biggest grin. I truly love and am thankful for all my couples who put their trust into me to make sure every moment of their biggest day is captured. With that being said, the feeling I get when someone who I've known for little over a decade reaches out to me is truly something different and always emotional. This was what it was like the day Gillian reached out to me. Gillian and I had done Girl Guides together growing up, and one her best friends Julia's wedding was actually my first ever wedding in the midst of the pandemic (May 2020).
Gillian and Aidan tied the knot on a gorgeous September day. The weather could not have been better - the air was crisp with a slight chill in the autumn air but the sun gave some warmth and comfort to the day. Gillian was surrounded by so much love that morning, joined by her mom, her future mother in law and her two best friends who stood by her side as her bridesmaids. There was no shortage of laughs and joy in her room and the excitement was electric. Gillian wore her mothers wedding earrings and they were absolutely gorgeous. The perfect accessory to tie in her modern look with the timeless love of the day. Her dress was absolutely breathtaking and sparkled every time the sun touched it. The ceremony took place at Saint Benedict's Parish and was officiated by Father James Mallon. Father James is Aidans Godfather and a good friend of his family, which made the ceremony that much more special. Gillian and Aidan each chose a reading before saying their I do's in front of all of their loved ones.
The Best Western Chocolate Lake Hotel cooked up a delicious buffet for the reception that was followed by lots of laughs and tears during the speeches. I don't think there was a dry eye in the room as Gillian's dad made it maybe two sentences into his speech before being overcome with emotion of pride and joy for his daughter. My favourite part of all the speeches was hearing how much love everyone had for the couple as well as the fun stories of them growing up from high school sweethearts to newlyweds. After a quick "newlywed game", the rest of the night was spent with some love, laughter and of course some good dancing.
Gillian and Aidan, congratulations! Wishing you both the absolute best of wishes in your future together with your adorable cats. I can't thank you both enough for trusting me to be a part of your big day.
